5K: 5K

A time to run.

For thousands of years, we’ve been running.

Running for food,
running for safety,
running for pleasure,
and running for our lives.

Today, many people run for the spirit of competition. Whether it be to achieve a personal best, to finish a marathon, or to train for the Olympics - we run.

One of the most popular race events for amateur and professional runners alike is the 5K (five-K), which is typically an outdoor road race or cross country event. Indoor 5K runs are more often called 5,000 meter races, and for these distances official records are kept.

5Krun.org covers everything related to this incredible test of human endurance. While it might not sound like a long distance to non-runners, being able to run 3.1 miles without stopping to rest or walking is extremely difficult. Every year thousands of people train for their very first 5K run, and training is important. Before we run, we must walk.
